Because of these difficult times, the Association has reluctantly concluded not to conduct a training conference for the year 2020. We want everyone to remain well and safe, and we feel this is the best course of action. We are planning two training conferences for 2021, tentatively in the spring and fall. Please check back for updated information as it becomes available.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Association with any questions you may have.
The Bluegrass Cross Connection Prevention Association (BGCCPA) is a not-for-profit association representing an alliance of individuals with the common interest of protecting public water supplies by preventing unauthorized and possibly dangerous connections. Our membership includes plumbers, mechanical and plumbing contractors and associations, fire sprinkler system contractors, irrigation specialists, public and private water and wastewater system operators, architects, engineers, governmental officials, and general industry.
Kentucky public and semi-public water supply regulations require that water purveyors be responsible for cross-connection prevention within their water system. Additionally, the Kentucky Natural Resources Environmental Protection Cabinet, Division of Drinking Water, conducts sanitary surveys that inspects and audits the water suppliers to determine if an approved cross-connection prevention program exists. The regulations are legislated to the water suppliers through the Division of Water.
The BGCCPA has a certification board that certifies backflow prevention device testers. The training of individuals to become certified backflow prevention device testers and maintaining their certification has become a primary focus of the BGCCPA. Backflow prevention device testers are required to successfully complete a training course approved by the BGCCPA. Recertification requirements shall include annual membership and certification fees paid in full, and a minimum of six (6) continuing education units (CEU’s) earned within the Member’s certification period. Certification requirements may be viewed by clicking on this link.
The BGCCPA offers a certification training conference annually. Our training conference offers up-to-date training for cross-connection prevention, and will provide the member with the required six (6) hours of continuing education. Any training not provided by the Association must be approved in advance by the BGCCPA’s Education Committee.
Manufacturers and distributors are invited to participate in our web site. Contact us through our email address to discuss the criteria necessary to list your company as a link.
