Bluegrass Cross Connection Prevention Association
The Bluegrass Cross Connection Prevention Association (BGCCPA) is a not-for-profit association representing an alliance of individuals with the common interest of protecting public water supplies from contamination by cross-connections. The purpose of the Association is to help protect the public water supplies by preventing unauthorized and dangerous connections. Our membership includes plumbers; mechanical and plumbing contractors and associations; fire sprinkler system contractors; irrigation specialists; public and private water and wastewater system operators; architects; engineers; governmental officials; and general industry.
Kentucky public and semi-public water supply regulations require that water purveyors be responsible for cross-connection prevention within their water system. Members and testers should contact the purveyors for their testing requirements.
BGCCPA has a certification board that certifies backflow prevention device testers. The training of individuals to become certified backflow prevention device testers and maintaining their certification is a primary focus of the BGCCPA. Backflow prevention device testers are required to successfully complete a training course approved by the BGCCPA. For a list of BGCCPA approved instructors, click here.
Recertification requirements shall include membership and certification fees paid in full, and a minimum of twelve (12) continuing education units (CEU’s) earned within the Member’s certification period. Certification requirements may be viewed by clicking on this link.
BGCCPA will offer at least one six (6) hour certification training conference each year of the member’s certification period. Each training conference offers up-to-date training in cross-connection prevention, respective updates of regulations, new products, etc. and will provide the member with required and approved continuing education training for the next certification period. The member can choose any two conferences to attend and obtain their 12 hours of required training.
Training not provided by BGCCPA’s Education Committee must be approved at least 30 days in advance of the training.
